Everyone inevitably experiences pain in their lives. This has become painfully clear over the past year. Pain is both hyper-personal and universal; everyone experiences it at some point in their lives, and yet only YOU know how much pain you feel. We prefer not to talk about suffering, and we often don’t know how to comfort someone in pain.

The basis of Suffering Matters is an exhibition in the Stevenskerk. In the church, monumental art installations by artists Keiko Sato, Martijn Schinkel and Rob Sweere can be seen, which visualize physical, mental and social pain.
