The Shouted series is about the paradox of Hollywood icons being themselves in a world where they have been given a projected identity by the media and the public. It is a complex issue that fascinates me. On the one hand, these icons are individuals with their own thoughts, feelings and personalities. On the other hand, they are also products of the entertainment industry. The public figures that form the basis of the Shouted series are known to have struggled with that conflict and the universal question; Who am I, really?
The Shouted series plays with that conflict by means of outpainting and various digital image editing to generate a new image of them that tries to capture this conflict. Not to reinvent them but to recognize something of ourselves in them.
